Written by faculty at the University of British Columbia and used there for several years, the four volumes cover the full calculus sequence for science and engineering students. The exercises in each section are grouped into three stages. Stage 1 exercises test the understanding of basic concepts. Stage 2 exercises are for practicing computational skills. Stage 3 exercises are more challenging and may require combining more than one idea, incorporate review material, or ask the student to apply a concept to a new situation.
